Chicago Acoustic Underground is a site showcasing some great songwriters and musicians who pass through the north side of Chicago with their voices, instruments, and talent and lay down some of the best live acoustic recordings you've never heard anywhere else. There are over 200 episodes (and counting) of acts over the past few years featuring a podcast of each performance along with photos of each session. Crystal Bowersox recorded there a year before going on American Idol and becoming a superstar (and getting her teeth fixed).
Live music every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm until 11:30pm. Visit their website for more information about Captain Lovell, the restaurant menu, and reservations.

Here's a music store that has helped me out in the past, and I will continue to support them. Paul Cicciarelli introduced me to the Line 6 Variax Acoustic in December 2007. We had just had a major fire at home and I lost my new Gibson L-5 acoustic (made in Montana), my new Godin Montreal, and my backup Yamaha acoustic and I needed something to get me through about 15 gigs over the next 8 week period. He loaned me his personal Variax and it really fit the bill with it's versatility. So much so that I bought it outright. If you are ever near the LaGrange area and want to check out guitars, or need some accessories, an amp, or lessons this is the place to go.
This is just a little shout out to brother Tom Yurik who helped us record some cover songs in August 2010 and assisted with the clean up of some originals from old cassette tapes to a quality digital format that we can actually listen to. Tom does great work, really knows Pro Tools, and is very reasonably priced. Tom has great ears and will help with all sorts of production and image as needed. Tom is easy to work with as we think alike in many ways when tracking and mixing. A fellow Fender Tele Custom Shop owner and player Tom is based out of Bolingbrook which is only a hop, skip, and a jump away (if you're a south-sider).
