This Fri. night starting at 8pm John Devlin and John Metzger will be back in the Captain's Quarters. Look for them exclusively here (no where else) on the first Friday of every month in 2010.  Timothy Hay at Lovell's in Lake Forest
This Saturday night's live music features Utah resident and Lake Forest native, Tim Severns. Tim is the main lyricist/songwriter, singer, and harmonica player for the Timothy Hay Band. Tim began performing in small town saloons and ski town pubs in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado and Utah with a variety of blues, country, roots, bluegrass and rock ensembles. His new cd has just been released. Recorded at numerous locations, using a trove of musicians from all over the country and a variety of sources (including some tracks featuring Dave Seiger), The Timothy Hay Wreckerd! is a tribute to America’s rich musical tapestry and those who dedicate their lives adding to it.  Downhome Sophisticates at Lovell's
Welcome back the Downhome Sophisticates from up Waukegan way. This 4 piece band consists of: singer/guitarist David Dallison, harmonica player Patrick Reninger, bassist Bill Taylor and guitarist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Chris Sipos. Combining the intimacy of a folk group, the improvisation of a jazz combo, and the energy of a rock or blues band, the Downhome Sophsticates are versatile performers who can excite an audience with a spirited concert or keep the dance floor crowded. Their sets nearly always include some classic soul or blues by Al Green or Muddy Waters, more contemporary selections by Tom Waits, Bob Dylan or Harry Connick Jr., and the occasional chestnut from a 21st century artist such as Gnarls Barkley, Weezer, or Jack Johnson. Dinner is served until 10pm. Drinks served until midnight or later.

Kris and Marlon are back and will be performing a mix of original material described as "Americana" with hints of country along with some well written songs by our heros of the past. Topical original songs with potent lyrical content, ballads, folk, and blues styles all covered. In other words, modern bar room troubadours par excellence. Four Chicago bands and musicians will combine to perform at Markapalooza, the final and largest concert of the 'BeatleMark Concert Series: Tributes to Benefit his Family.'  Donna Herula and Tony Nardiello at Lovell's
Donna Herula is a Chicago born singer and guitarist who plays traditional classic, country and Delta blues. Tony is a local singer songwriter. Together they play a mix of acoustic blues, country, folk, pop, rock, and standards. She plays fingerstyle and blues slide guitar on her 1930's Triolian and National Tricone resonator guitars. During their performance you may hear some songs of the early blues women including Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie in addition to songs by traditional musicians such as Robert Johnson, Robert Nighthawk, Furry Lewis and Blind Blake. Donna has also been hard at work recording her newest cd soon to be for sale. Start time is 8pm. Dinner is served until 10pm. No cover charge. Bar is open until 1am. Call for reservations.

 Paul Allodi at Lovells
As with every 4th Friday of the month, Paul Allodi and James Wayman will be once again performing downstairs in the Captain's Quarters. Paul has been a regular performing favorite at Lovell's for over the past 4+ years. Paul, a full time local musician with many original songs to his credit is a member of Biff and the Waybacks and "Since I Was 3" , as well as several other musical projects. James does well for himself on bass guitar and contributes with some excellent vocals. Leave any left over meat on your plates and these guys are just the type to finish it for you!  New Hokum Boys at Lovell's
New Hokum Boys.... Toe-tapping acoustic roots music of Paul Kaye and Rick Veras has been entertaining Chicagoland audiences for 20 years. Guitarist Paul Kaye is best known for his critically acclaimed work on the first two Devil-in-a-Woodpile recordings (Bloodshot Records) back in the 1990s. In recent years, he's been appearing at major festivals (Chicago Bluesfest, Fargo Bluesfest) with Grammy-winner David "Honeyboy" Edwards, and can be heard on Honeyboy's latest release, Roamin' and Ramblin' (Earwig Records). Rick Veras is one of the most in demand fiddlers in the Chicago area. He does it all, from hillbilly square dance to hot gypsy jazz.  Bobby Rex and the Nomads aka Biff and the Waybacks
Bobby Rex and the Nomads aka Biff and the Waybacks will be perfoming one big, crazy rock show this autumn at 115 Bourbon Street and we invite you all to come out! In 1992 Rex put together a 5 piece band called the Nomads and performed original songs and covers in unique alternative rock and blues styles. Paul Allodi on bass and shared vocals was there for all of it. In late 1994 they reformed as Biff and the Waybacks, a solid rock and roll revue playing modern rock and digging on some of their favorite musical innovators of the past. This line-up of players: Bobby Rex, Paul Allodi, Steve Wall, Herman Winkler, and Tom Malec has been in tact for over 12 years performing hundreds of fun interactive shows, parties, and events. The mystery of "who really is Biff?" remains. This performance at 115 Bourbon Street follows the 6pm - 10pm grade school reunion of ALL the classes from St. Denis Catholic Grade School from 1958 to 2001. Bobby and his 5 siblings all attended that famed grade school on Chicago's Southwest side which is no longer. Biff and the Waybacks will be performing in the BIG room starting at 10pm. Join us in celebration, song, and dance at this huge blow-out! Catholic Mass services will be held at St. Denis Church at 83rd Place and St. Louis Ave. at 4pm by Father Mass.
